Walk Summary
A flat linear walk following Route 19 along the scenic Shropshire Way. We follow the river Severn for a few miles passing Charles Darwin's house and garden. We then leave the river walking through woodland and open footpaths along the Severn Way, crossing the river at Thomas Telford's Montford Bridge. We continue to the remains of Shrawardine castle, where some sandstone keep walls and part of the moat can still be seen. Here we leave the Severn Way and walk across farmland and along quiet roads until we reach The Old Three Pigeons pub at Nesscliffe. We then either have the choice of a short 20 minute climb to the hill fort at Oliver's Point passing old quarries and a 15th century outlaw's cave, or going straight to the pub if people prefer! From the top, views of the Breiddens, river Severn and Wales can clearly be seen.

We will catch the bus back to Shrewsbury. Bus stop is opposite the pub.
