Prestatyn and Trelawnyd including Gop Hill
Saturday 7th July 2018
Estimated Finish Time
Start Point and Parking
Prestatyn Railway Station.
1 hour 30 minutes North West of Shrewsbury
Plenty of choice between Tea Shops & Pubs in Prestatyn Town Centre.
Regular Trains from Shrewsbury to Prestatyn. I'll be joining at Chester.
The walk starts with a climb to the hills at the back of Prestatyn and passes over Gop Hill, an ancient burial site, before dropping to the old village of Trelawnyd. Some tree-lined bridleways lead to the disused railway from Dyserth, now converted to a footpath and cycle track, back to the heart of Prestatyn along the North Wales Path.
Mixture of road walking, and fields following the Clwydian Way.
Steep climb initially from Prestatyn Town Centre, but after this the terrain is undulating.
Gob Hill Summit - 350 metres
Boggy underfoot in certain parts - particularly along a stretch of bridleway beyond Trelawnyd - North Wales Path is a popular route for cyclists so please be vigilant.
