General Location

10 minutes south of Shrewsbury.

Take A49 south out of Shrewsbury. Take the right hand turn off A49 - signposted Bayston Hill and Lyth Hill Country Park. This is Lyth Hill Road; continue along this road for about 2 miles until you reach the car park.

*Please take care as the road narrows as you leave the main residential area on Lyth Hill road and approach the car park.*

Packed Lunch?

Yes

Pub/Tea Shop

Unfortunately there is no obvious place to go for a tea or pub stop at the end of the walk, but we can discuss on the walk and go somewhere in the Shrewsbury area afterwards if people are keen to do that.

Toilets

None at start point; there are toilets at little chef at Dobbies.

Car Sharing

Meet atDobbiesservices (A5/A49 junction south of Shrewsbury) in the Little Chef car park at 10am.

Car sharing is recommended as it is a small and popular car park at Lyth Hill.

Public Transport

Is there a suitable bus/train people can catch? .... Well, there is a bus from Shrewsbury - however the return journey time may be tight for end of walk!! (So advisable to have a backup plan for your return home if you intend to use the bus)

Other Details

A lovely walk starting from Lyth Hill Country Park with views across surrounding Shropshire countryside including the Wrekin, Lawley, Caer Caradoc and the Long Mynd. We gently descend from the hill and work our way along old green lane tracks and lanes and over pastureland. The walk is flat apart from one short steep section at the end to climb back up on to the hill. Gaiters recommended as may be muddy in parts.
